1.1.Amphiro’ goal is to market products and services that promote a sustainable use of water and energy among consumers. Our energy-autarkic products measure water and heat energy consumption, provide empowering real-time feedback information and – depending on the product version – make the information available on your smartphone and online. This allows you to use as much water as you want, motivates a sustainable energy use, and engages you, your friends, and the amphiro community to conserve precious resources. With the data we collect, we want to serve our customers, improve our products and promote their market uptake, offer new services, and to better understand how feedback and gamification makes our services even more powerful.

1.2. This document formulates the privacy policy and cookie policy (“policy”) of Amphiro and thus how we use personally identifiable information that is collected to derived when users operate networked amphiro devices (“devices”), our mobile applications (“apps”), or websites (“websites”) of Amphiro (together “amphiro applications” or “our applications”). The policy describes the types of personally identifiable information that are collected when you use our applications and describes how the information is used, administered, shared, and protected. The policy also describes the options you have regarding this information and how you can contact us.

2. Categories of Personally Identifiable Information Collected by Amphiro

2.1. Amphiro collects a number of personally identifiable information in order to offer the requested products and services to its customers. The information can be categorized as follows:

  1. Personal details: Given name and family name, address including street name and number, city, zip code, country, email address; date of birth and gender, password, login and user account information;
  2. Consumption data: Volume of used water, flow rates, temperature, energy consumption, frequency and time of water extraction, efficiency rating of heating system and shower head;
  3. Configuration settings: Device and app settings including marketing and cookie settings;
  4. Payment information: Payment data and credit card information;
  5. Communications with us: Posts about Amphiro and your messages to us;
  6. Surveys: Voluntary information to improve our products and services and to support research.

We use additional personally identifiable information to enable specific features in our applications. For some smartphone operating systems, for example, our app has to ask you to provide current location information in order to support Bluetooth pairing with our devices, or we ask you to log in to a social network if you want to share information there. When interacting with our applications, additional information is collected automatically by our technical platforms and shared with Amphiro. This information includes:

Identifiers of your devices, network addresses and memory information;

Cookies, IP addresses, referral headers, information to identify your bowser type and version and operating system, web tags and web beacons.

3. Privacy Settings

3.1. User of our applications can influence how and what data is used:

  • If you want to share only as little as possible information (especially no detailed consumption data) with us, you can renounce using our app; the core functions of our devices – providing real-time feedback on energy and water use – are available without the need to register or to share any consumption data;
  • Sharing personally identifiable information in social networks of course needs you consent. You can instruct your browser not to accept cookies.

4. Use and sharing of Personally Identifiable and Non-Personally Identifiable Information

4.1. We use personally identifiable information in line with your privacy settings in order to

  • offer the functionality offered by our websites, apps, and services;
  • inform you about our products, services, events, and other marketing actions;
  • improve and maintain our products and service offering;
  • protect our rights, intellectual property or the rights and intellectual of third parties;
  • enable general analytics tasks.

4.2. Amphiro does not share your personally identifiable information with other parties unless

  • it is required by law;
  • you give explicit consent (e.g., to share your data with friends in a social network);
  • it is necessary for purchasing, paying, and delivering our products and services and for warranty issues (e.g., when paying via a credit card service provider);
  • third parties working for Amphiro require the data to provide their services to us (e.g., to send emails); whenever possible, name and address information are not shared with third parties.

4.3. Non-personally identifiable information can be used and stored by Amphiro to improve our products and services and can also be shared with third parties (e.g., e.g. for research and development purposes).

5. Data Protection and Administration of Personally Identifiable Information

5.1 Amphiro takes a variety of security measures to prevent unauthorized access to data. However, we hereby clearly state that there is no such thing as absolute data security. We of course take suitable measure to make data theft and data manipulation unlikely. Encryption and security: We use a variety of security measures, including encryption and authentication tools, to protect your personally identifiable information. We also limit the access to your data internally to those individuals who need access for legitimate reasons. 6. Use of Cookies

6.1. We use cookies to optimize our applications and especially websites. Cookies are small text files stored in your computer’s memory. Some cookies are deleted after you close the browser. Other cookies remain on your computer (long-term cookies) and permit its recognition on your next visit. This allows us to improve your access to our site and to better understand user behavior. You can prevent storage of cookies by choosing a „disable cookies“ option in your browser settings. This, however, can limit the functionality of our Internet offers.

7. Use of Google Analytics on our Website

7.1. This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, i.e. text files stored on your computer to enable analysis of website usage by you. Information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. In case of activated IP anonymization on this website, however, your IP address is previously truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states which are party to the agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is a full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. 8. Use of Facebook Plugins

8.1. We use social plug-ins from, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The plug-ins can be recognized by way of the Facebook logo or the supplement „Facebook Social Plug-in“. For example, if you click on the „Like“ button or leave a comment, the relevant information is transmitted directly from your browser to Facebook and stored there. Furthermore, Facebook makes your likes public for your Facebook friends. If you are logged into Facebook, it can assign the invocation of our page directly to your Facebook account. Even if you are not logged in or don’t have a Facebook account, your browser sends information (e.g., which web pages you have called up, your IP address) which is then stored by Facebook. 9. Use of Twitter Plugins (e.g., the “Twitter”-button)

10. Use of Google+ Plugins (e.g., the “+1”-Button)

10.1. We use social plug-ins from of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). The plug-ins can be recognized the text „1+“ on a button. An overview on the plug-ins by Google and information how to recognize them can be found under: If you open a website that contains such a plug in, you browser establishes a connection to the servers of Google. The content of the plugin is sent directly to your browser by Google and integrated in the website. This way, Goolge is notified that your browser visited the website, even if you have no Goolge+ account or are not logged in to Google+. This information, including your IP, is directly communicated to Google’s servers located in the USA and stored there. If you interact with the “1+”-button, this is also communicated to Goolge. Clicking on the “1+”-button will be associated to your account and made public on your account. 11. Newsletters and Reminders

11.1. In case you have given your explicit consent (e.g., by selecting a respective checkbox or by pressing a respective button), we will use your email address to send you reminders to rate our product. In case you have given your explicit consent, we may also use your email address to remind you to use your device, to inform you about product or service offers or events, efficiency campaigns, or studies, and send you information on amphiro-related topics. You can always revoke your consent by sending us an email to the address specified in the contact information on our website or by altering the respective settings in the app.

12. Contact Information and Right to Access and Verification

12.1 You have the right to receive information free of charge on the personally identifiable information stored by us as well as the right to have the information corrected or erased from our systems. In case of question regarding data collection, processing, and use of our personally identifiable information, in case of questions regarding data correction, storage, and erasure from our systems, and in case of revoking your consent to the use of data for certain services, you can contact us by sending us an email to the address specified in the contact information on our website.

13.1. Our websites and apps can contain links to websites and apps of third parties in order to provide you with additional information or services. These websites and apps that may not be owned or operated by Amphiro are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the content of and the use of information by these websites. 14. Changes to the Privacy Policy
